New ideas and concepts on the subject of two-wheeled mobility are a decades old tradition at BMW Motorrad. Countless times, concept studies and drafts have been presented that reflect the power of innovation and future orientation of BMW Motorrad.

With its Scooter C Concept study, BMW Motorrad is yet again embarking on a new path and demonstrating a fascinating mobility option for the future. Here, C stands for "commuter". Particularly in view of the traffic development in urban areas, it presents the prospect of an innovative, sporty big scooter for the future premium segment.

As usual at BMW Motorrad, there is more to this study than just an attempt to present a big scooter for the highest demands. Rather, the designers and engineers of BMW Motorrad focused above all on the emotive component in addition to the technical function and quality - and the thrill from the very first moment on.

BMW Scooter C Concept. Emotion, dynamic handling, and function in the design.
When unveiling its C Concept at 2010 EICMA in Milan, BMW Motorrad will be directing the maximum possible emotion to its interpretation of this subject, which will bear witness to the primary claims of maximum, all round functionality.

BMW Scooter C Concept as a vision of the big scooter is immediately recognisable as a member of the BMW Motorrad family. For instance, it also presents the so-called "split face", a visual tripartite of dynamic response extending from the front silhouette to the front wheel cover and beyond. In the style of highly sporty
BMW Motorrad models, such as the S 1000 RR, C Concept also features a twin-tipped front spoiler.

Unlike the L shaped side view presented up to now by big scooters, with their predominantly vertical body lines and colour scheme, BMW Scooter C Concept has ventured on a new, much more sporty and dynamic path. The body lines sweeping up to the vehicle's rear underscore this big scooter's active riding character. The high rear section emphasises the lightness and agility of C Concept's powerful two-cylinder engine. Sportiness and dynamism are also underscored by the close cut, speeder-style windscreen.

The functional side of this scooter is expressed in stylish design elements, such as the aluminium look of the bash plates with the air intake adopted from the BMW GS.

The black chromium of the suspension and frame parts form a thrilling, dynamic relationship with the aluminium chromium, silver, and blue paintwork of the body parts. In addition, the black satin sections present a high-contrast emphasis on the vehicle's central area. This highly technical and high-quality elegance is borne further by finely worked details, such as the fuel tank cover reminiscent of aircraft and the short, sporty muffler. The visionary facet of BMW Scooter C Concept is presented by the tyres with flanks and treads of blue.

BMW Scooter C Concept. Pioneering technology that fuels enthusiasm.
BMW Scooter C Concept presents unusual and innovative solutions that offer a wide prospect of what in future can become reality in this segment.

For instance, BMW C Concept features a highly complex monolever mechanism with hollowed-out shaft connected to a suspension strut visible from the outside. In this study, front-wheel control takes the form of an upside down fork.

The stable twin disc brake at the front features two radial brake callipers that also underscore the dynamic sportiness of C Concept. In addition, the single disc brake at the rear and the BMW Motorrad ABS provide the maximum possible safety during braking manoeuvres.

The dynamic and equally comfortable driving force behind BMW Scooter C Concept is provided by a new, two-cylinder inline engine in conjunction with CVT (continuously variable transmission). Engine power, torque, and therefore performance will be moving towards the top of the segment.

Light is cast on a more distant point in the future by the LED headlamp integrated into the face panelling. This future vision is also continued by the deliberate absence of conventional rear view mirrors, which will be replaced in C Concept with two video cameras in the rear. These record the area behind the vehicle and transfer the images to two LCD monitors in the cockpit within view of the rider. The road speed, engine speed, and other data appear on a third LCD display integrated at the centre of the cockpit.

BMW C Concept. Perfected rider equipment and stowage space concept.
BMW Scooter C Concept also testifies to thoughts and ideas extending beyond the actual vehicle. In line with the BMW Motorrad philosophy, a big scooter realised in the C Concept style will also come with a range of adequate rider equipment. In the best BMW Motorrad tradition, the development of a big scooter will also include a suitable stowage space concept.

2009 APRILIA Scarabeo 100 4T pictures. Accident lawyers info

APRILIA Scarabeo 100 4T (2009)
- Ever since its arrival back in 1993, Aprilia’s Scarabeo has set the pace for scooter design and technology, becoming a style icon in its own right. Every large wheel scooter produced since then has tried to copy Scarabeo's design. Because still today Scarabeo represents the most successful mix of classical and modern lines in any scooter. -

Aprilia Scarabeo 100 4T(2009)

Click Thumbnail to download (size 1600 x 1200 pixels)

Scarabeo’s reassuring, essential looks never go out of fashion. And with its flat platform, and modern, reliable engines, Scarabeo is amazingly easy to ride too. In fact, Scarabeo’s recipe for success is so beautifully simple that it is impossible to copy. That is why riders become so attached to their Scarabeos that they would never change to another scooter. That too is why Aprilia takes such great care whenever it makes any improvements to this legend on two wheels. Scarabeo can evolve, but cannot be changed, and this is reflected in the new 2007 model. The improvements are radical, but in no way betray the original concept that has created one of the world's most iconic two wheelers.

Scarabeo 100 Four Stroke is designed for riders who want that extra performance. As compact as a 50, and as sporty as a 125, the Scarabeo 100 Four Stroke gives sprightly acceleration and the ability to tackle longer journeys without fatigue.

STYLE
Unmistakable from the very first glance, the 2007 Scarabeo has many modern features while maintaining the acclaimed classical elegance that has given rise to so many imitations. Appearance has been enhanced by various improvements to style, like new-look lights with the latest technology. The tail light cluster has been totally redesigned to use LED technology for better visibility and greater safety. The new direction indicators feature satin finish stems and white lenses. The headlight cluster is new too. Four stroke versions are also fitted with a compact fly-screen for better wind protection. Even the instruments have been redesigned, though they remain generous and in perfect keeping with Scarabeo’s overall styling. The new wheels maintain a family feeling with the previous models but are lighter in weight. Whether two or four stroke, all 2007 Scarabeos share the same overall design. For the Scarabeo Four Stroke in particular, this means a return to the roots, with a slimmer tail, a new seat and a far more Scarabeo look.

CHASSIS
Thanks to a robust, tubular frame in high strength steel, Scarabeo offers pace-setting manoeuvrability and unrivalled stability.

With a wheel travel of 80 millimetres, the hydraulic fork soaks up the bumps even over rough cobbled streets.

On Scarabeo, comfort and control go hand in hand. The rear suspension system is based on a robust, adjustable hydraulic monoshock that affords a generous 82 mm of wheel travel.

Thanks to reduced weight and steering inertia, the new lighter wheels not only look better but improve handling too.

The braking system is a further guarantee of safety under all riding conditions. The front brake features a 220 mm disc and a caliper with two opposed 30 mm pistons. The back brake is a generous 140 mm drum unit, for precise, gradual, yet powerful braking.

ENGINE
The Scarabeo 100 engine is a horizontal single cylinder, 96.2 cc four stroke with forced air cooling and a two valve head. Thanks to a power output of 8 HP, this powerplant offers fuel consumption figures similar to those of a 50 with performance typical of a 125. If you want that bit extra from your Scarabeo without having to move up to a big engine with all the associated weight and running costs, this is the model for you.

STANDARD EQUIPMENT
Scarabeo Four Stroke models are equipped with a new, even more comfortable seat. Handles incorporated in the luggage rack give passengers a comfortable and safe grip and make it easier than ever to lift Scarabeo on to its centre stand for parking. Scarabeo is equipped as standard with everything you could possibly need for an easy life in our busy cities, including an automatic choke and an ample 8 litre fuel tank for excellent autonomy and extended intervals between refuelling. The leg shield storage compartment is big enough to hold all those items you need to keep to hand. The clear glass, multi-focal, motorcycle style headlight projects an intense light beam, with dipped and main beam settings. The instrument panel features new graphics and provides all the information you could want in an instantly readable form. Instruments are clearly visible under all lighting conditions, even at night, thanks to backlighting specifically designed to make everything easy to read. Scarabeo’s instruments, function indicators and warning lights keep you fully informed at all times.

ACCESSORIES
A vast range of accessories lets you personalise your Scarabeo to suit your own needs, preferences and lifestyle. Scarabeo’s appeal is enhanced even further by the must-have top box with built-in backrest, finished to match the original colour of your scooter. The top box is fitted with a single key locking system that lets you open the top box with your scooter’s ignition key, so you only need one key to make full use of Scarabeo.

Need a Florida Motorcycle Accident Lawyer and looking for an ethical, experienced and aggressive lawyer to figure out if you may be entitled to money compensation for your serious injury?

In Florida, motorcycle accidents happen mostly because automobile drivers do not share the road. I frequently represent seriously injured motorcycle riders because a car fails to see the motorcycle and then the car pulls out into the intersection. Another common reason is that the car driver changes lanes without looking. The most frequent injuries are fractures of shoulder or wrists from going over the handlebars, or femur (long bone of the leg) fractures from laying the bike down or a side impact. Unfortunately, even at slower speeds and with a helmet, I have represented the family of fathers and sons who have died in motorcycle crashes.

As a Florida Motorcycle accident lawyer, I understand that you may want to express you individuality and freedom on the road by making the decision as an adult not to wear a helmet. The insurance company in a brain injury case will argue that you are the cause of your own injury being worse because if you were wearing a helmet the injury would not have been so bad.

I retain experts in biomechanics, who are engineers and if the evidence is available and in your favor, they can calculate the force of the impact and tell the insurance company that they are wrong. That wearing a helmet would not have made a difference. A helmet sometimes can actually make the injury worse. I am not advocating that you should not wear a helmet , it's just that wearing one does not always make a difference. It depends on the accident circumstances. Each Florida Motorcycle Accident claim will get my personal attention to detail and my 30 years of experience.

If you would like to consult for free with a Florida civil trial lawyer who is board certified as an expert in civil trial then please call 888-446-1999

There will be no charge for lawyer fees of representation or costs of representation if there is not money compensation recovery.

MINI E Scooter Concept (2010)
Click Thumbnail to download (size 1600 x 1200 pixels)

Hardly a year has gone by since the launch of the MINI E, and MINI is at it again, opening up fascinating prospects for urban mobility that reduce CO2 emissions without any compromises on spontaneity and independence. The MINI Scooter E Concept transfers the brand's hallmark driving fun to the two-wheel segment for the first time. Equally unique features are the link between the scooter's alternative drive concept and its unmistakable design, intelligent functionality and detailed personalisation options in true MINI style. The MINI Scooter E Concept is powered by an electric motor integrated in the rear wheel. The motor's lithium-ion battery can be recharged at any conventional power socket using an on-board charging cable. The concept study, which is being launched as a world premiere at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, meets the mobility aspirations of a target group that sets store by premium quality and advanced technology as well as placing sustainability on a par with individual style and an emotional driving experience. The MINI Scooter E Concept also highlights new ways of attracting in particular a young audience to the MINI brand.

Once again, this study by the MINI design team has furnished evidence of a special strength exhibited by the brand: the ability to identify new challenges for mobility in major urban areas at an early stage and to meet those needs with innovative vehicle concepts. 51 years ago, the world's first concept for a small car focused consistently on efficient use of space and driving fun to create the platform for the classic Mini. The design principles applied to the brand's forebear all those years ago define the segment for small cars and compacts to this day. As the world's first premium small car, the MINI has been an unparalleled success following the relaunch of the brand in 2001. More than 1.7 million vehicles have been sold worldwide, providing impressive testimony to the potential even in this segment for generating a desire to embrace a successful combination of driving fun, quality, striking design and individual style.

The design of the MINI Scooter E Concept also incorporates current changes in urban mobility requirements. Its heritage of more than 50 years has seen the MINI brand following the principle of promoting individual mobility with optimum use of space implemented on the smallest possible footprint. This principle is now being applied to the brand's first two-wheel vehicle, offering seats for up to two people within remarkably compact dimensions. The study also embodies the first two-wheel concept to combine a sustainable drive technology with design features geared to lifestyle.

Typical MINI design - a world first on two wheels.
The MINI Scooter E Concept, making its world debut in two individual design versions, opens up a whole host of options for enjoying the driving fun associated with MINI while at the same time being immediately recognisable as a true ambassador of the brand. This synthesis has been achieved by the systematic transfer of fundamental MINI design principles to the new vehicle concept and through an authentic reinterpretation of unique details. The design language and wealth of individual details embodied in the two-wheel study are based on the current production models of the MINI brand.

Clearly defined proportions and smoothly contoured lines lend the MINI Scooter E Concept an aesthetic appearance that evinces significant parallels to the brand's cars. The relationship between the size of the wheels and the vehicle as a whole play a significant role here. The 11-inch rims of the MINI Scooter E Concept give the study a powerful and robust appearance, emulating the profile of MINI cars. The alignment of the contours enhances this impression from the side by clearly defining the front and rear of the vehicle before sweeping up towards each other at virtually identical angles. The windshield of the MINI Scooter E Concept is angled in an upright position similar to that of the front windshield in MINI cars. The curvature designed into the sides also displays parallels with the transitions of a windshield in the MINI as it merges into the A-pillars.

Round headlights with independent contour, windshield with an aperture in MINI radiator grille style.
The front view of the MINI Scooter E Concept is dominated by a remarkably large, round headlight unit. Similar to the headlights of the MINI Countryman, the headlight contour diverges slightly from the original circular shape, and both designs are influenced by the geometry of the surrounding surfaces. The independent contour of the headlight unit in the MINI Countryman matches the brawny, curved wheel arches and the robust radiator grille, while on the MINI Scooter E Concept it takes its cue from the low-slung windshield. The headlight unit tapers upwards and features a chrome surround, creating a strong profile in characteristic MINI style. The circular shape of the main headlight interior is highlighted by an illuminated coloured ring.

Projecting indicators, meanwhile, invoke the front view of the classic Mini. The glass covers for the flasher lamps are enclosed in chrome fames and curve slightly outwards to resemble the historic profile.

A stylised aperture in the windshield configured below the headlight contributes to the front profile so typical of the brand, its shape mimicking the contour of the hexagonal radiator grille in MINI cars. This design element also has a chrome frame, while the impression of familiarity is further enhanced by the MINI brand logo above it. The windshield itself is framed by a wraparound plastic surround. Each of the two study versions also has individually matched paintwork for the windshield, wheel covers and fairing enclosing the frame. A contrasting colour is applied to the surface of each of the windshields, and the range of hues in the paintwork reflects the light and shade effects on the curved engine bonnet of a MINI four-wheeler.

Inimitably MINI: chrome elements, round mirrors and two upright tail lights.
Other chrome elements are evident on the hand grip at the back of the seat and on the footrest. The hand grip is shaped like the rear spoiler of the MINI Cooper S, while a continuous band of chrome positioned directly below the seat recalls the side sill on MINI cars.

The rear-view mirrors on the MINI Scooter E Concept likewise display familiar characteristics in their shape and their size in proportion to the vehicle. This applies to the round contour of the mirror surfaces, the eye-catching volume of the hemispherical casing, as well as the different mirror cap designs that permit additional individualisation options.

Another characteristic design feature is reinterpreted at the rear of the MINI Scooter E Concept: the two tail light units are mounted on the outside of the rear wheel fairing in an upright position. A transparent glass cover recalls the MINI Countryman and provides a view of the three-dimensional structure of the tail lights, brake lights and indicators. Each of the tail light units on the MINI Scooter E Concept is mounted in a chrome frame and the MINI logo is positioned between the tail lights.

One concept, two characters.
The exceptional potential of the new mobility concept is underscored by the parallel presentation of two design concepts. These two versions highlight the key features of the study - driving fun, sustainability, sportiness and lifestyle orientation - with an individual focus. The concepts have different functionalities in terms of the number of seats: the MINI Scooter E Concept is presented in a version developed to support driving fun for two people and in an emphatically sporty, thoroughbred version with a seat designed for the rider alone.

The colour design of the two-seater version of the MINI Scooter E Concept is based on the appearance of the MINI E, which highlights its emission-free drive concept in a particularly striking way. The livery designed in matt anthracite creates an attractive contrast with the seat finished in yellow, with the iridescent colour of the windshield around the headlight unit and the yellow mirror caps providing further accentuating features. The surface of the seat is made of tough fabric material, with a yellow strip bordering the lower part of the seat.

In each of the two versions of the MINI Scooter E Concept, this strip sweeps downwards from the front of the seat into the frame fairing and continues along the edge of the footrest towards the front, where it also runs around the windshield. This creates a visual boundary between the body of the scooter and the rider/passenger area including the foot space and cockpit.

The design of the second version of the MINI Scooter E Concept is steeped in the brand's heritage and British origins. Primarily designed for solo riders, this version represents the sportier version of the new vehicle concept. Its British Racing Green finish harks back to classic racing cars, with the sparkle of the paintwork lending a particularly distinguished, high-quality aura to this new interpretation. The seat is upholstered in dark brown leather and the surface has an artifically created "used look". Attractive contrasts to the dark-green body colour are provided by silver mirror caps and paintwork around the headlight unit in the windshield that flips between green and silver.

Progressive, stylish, uncomplicated operation.
The MINI Scooter E Concept is a rallying call for spontaneous riding enjoyment. This is fostered by intuitive operation and agile ride characteristics. Thoroughbred mobility in hallmark MINI style entails vehicle handling that is completely intuitive and needs no further explanation. That applies to the immediate activity of riding as well as charging the lithium-ion battery. The operating concept is also directed towards enabling straightforward and effortless use of the other functions designed to enhance driving fun.

This challenge is met by an innovative way of integrating mobile devices. The cockpit of the MINI Scooter E Concept comprises a Centre Speedo in the circular shape familiar from MINI, with a smartphone integrated in the middle. The wraparound speedometer is in the form of a tube filled with fluid, the content expanding in line with the speed rather like a thermometer. In the lower area of the Centre Speedo, a battery charge level display indicates the range currently available. The design of all the control elements for lights, direction indicators and other driving functions corresponds to the buttons on the multifunction steering wheel of MINI cars.

Smartphones as key, display and central control element.
The inside of the round instrument comprises a snap-in adapter for a smartphone, which operates simultaneously as the vehicle key, display and central control element. As soon as the rider docks his mobile phone and switches it on, the vehicle is ready to go. This configuration in the MINI Scooter E Concept yields new initiatives for integrating infotainment, communication and navigation functions in a two-wheeler. While the scooter is in motion, the smartphone can be used as a navigation system, music player or telephone as required. A wireless Bluetooth interface can be connected to a helmet from the MINI Collection. This is fitted with a microphone and headphones so that riders are able to use the telephone function or access their personal music collection while on the road.

The innovative operating concept creates a network between the rider, the vehicle and the environment which paves the way for numerous new interactive functions. Building on the MINI Connected services already available in current MINI production cars, specific features can be implemented by adding further smartphone applications. For example, the navigation function can be supplemented by a special map view in Google Maps which indicates the current position of other scooters from the brand in the immediate vicinity. This provides a feature similar to social networks on the internet where riders who are friends can be identified and invited to come together on a whim by simply pressing a button. A greeting function has also been developed for the MINI Scooter E Concept to further strengthen the community appeal and highlight the friendly and open-minded personality of this vehicle. An automated full-beam headlight function that operates when two vehicles meet strengthens this sense of community.

MINI Centre Rail in an innovative design and with specific accessories.
Alongside the intuitive control and interactive functions, the advanced functionality of the MINI Scooter E Concept also contributes to its intuitive and compelling operation. Two compartments on the inside of the windshield are available for stowing personal items. The study also incorporates an innovative aluminium design of the MINI Centre Rail first presented in the MINI Countryman. The mounting rail configured inside the windshield extends downwards into the foot space, and the unique clip-on mechanism offers a range of options for transporting items that are required during the journey or at the rider's destination. These items are stored so that they easily come to hand.

Dedicated Centre Rail specifications are offered for each version of the concept. The universal mounting system means that they can be switched between vehicles at any time or complemented by other products from the MINI Accessories range for the MINI Countryman. The accessories for the Centre Rail include tailor-made holders from the MINI Collection for the helmet as well as for umbrellas, sunglasses and thermos flasks. An additional closed compartment and an expanded rain guard to protect the rider's legs can also be easily connected to the Centre Rail. A music player, calendar, stopwatch and tea cups specially designed for the MINI Scooter E Concept can also be attached to the Centre Rail.
All you need is a power socket: maximum independence guaranteed by an integrated charging cable.
When riding the MINI Scooter E Concept, brief stops can be used to top up the on-board energy storage system. Consistent charging significantly increases independence and flexibility when using the electrically powered two-wheeler. The electric drive unit, concealed beneath a painted cover inside the rear wheel, is powered by electricity supplied from a lithium-ion battery. Apart from the compact battery, a charging system and connecting cable are integrated snugly in the rear of the MINI Scooter E Concept. The charging cable has a plug which fits into any conventional domestic socket. This has the major advantage that topping up the energy reserve does not depend on a special charging station being available. Stop-offs for shopping or visiting a café can be used for hassle-free battery recharging.

Plugs and cables are accommodated underneath a cover similar to the round tank flap in a MINI car. After opening the illuminated flap, the plug and charging cable can be pulled out to a length of up to five metres and connected to the power system. After the battery has been charged up, a button-operated spring mechanism ensures that the cable is retracted and coiled in a space-saving compartment.

MINI Scooter E Concept: innovative, sustainable, lifestyle-oriented - in other words, a true MINI.
Urban driving fun enters a new dimension with the MINI Scooter E Concept. This innovative mobility concept embodies a combination of sustainability and lifestyle unprecedented in the two-wheel segment. Both facets are showcased particularly convincingly by the MINI brand. A period spanning more than 50 years has seen this brand representing leading-edge vehicle concepts that encompass environmental and economic aspects while satisfying the desire for spontaneous driving fun and individual style. In its time, the classic Mini became the icon of a new kind of mouldbreaking mobility in modern urban environments. The MINI Scooter E Concept similarly delivers alternative solutions for the shifting requirements in today's urban traffic landscape. Its design in typical MINI style incorporates a pioneering operating concept and comprehensive options for creating a personalised vehicle, taking account of the sophisticated requirements of young, environmentally aware target groups who are open to new trends.

The MINI Scooter E Concept represents the first mobility concept in this vehicle segment to bring sustainability and lifestyle into harmony. The MINI Scooter E Concept represents a means of conveyance that is as classless as the classic Mini in its time. Easy operation and agile handling offer ideal conditions for giving young drivers a fascinating entry into the world of the MINI brand. At the same time, the concept will appeal to style-conscious and environmentally aware car drivers who are interested in an attractive adjunct or a longer-term alternative to their accustomed form of personal mobility.

The drive concept incorporated in the study also underpins the consistent development efforts of the BMW Group in its quest to achieve CO2-free mobility. The electric drive plays a key role in this endeavour and allows the MINI Scooter E Concept to deliver the driving fun associated with the brand in a new and highly contemporary package. The instantaneous pick-up of electric drive systems, plus the vehicle's low weight and compact dimensions, ensure maximum agility in typical traffic conditions on urban roads. These features and the simple operation of the charging system make the MINI Scooter E Concept a pioneering symbol of independent, flexible and spontaneous mobility.

With the purely electrically driven smart eScooter Concept, smart is presenting a further solution for intelligent urban mobility. The innovative two-wheel study translates consistently the characteristic advantages of the pioneering smart fortwo electric drive e-car into a two-wheeler: compact dimensions, agility, high safety standards and the driving fun typical of the smart brand, not least backed by an efficient and locally emission-free drivetrain. In addition to its innovative technical solutions, the new smart eScooter convinces with its distinctive, state-of-the-art design and simple handling. One more advantage is the integration of smartphones: the further developed smart drive kit app has versatile functions such as those of a speedometer or range indicator. As a result, functionality, environmental sustainability and driving fun accompany the smart eScooter. The smart two-wheeler will have its world premiere at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, giving visitors an outlook at future zero-emission products from the smart brand.

Dr. Annette Winkler, head of smart says "When our customers speak enthusiastically about their smart they describe the perfect city car that is manoeuvrable, flexible, safe, spacious and fast and offers lots of driving fun - on the road and when looking for a parking space. Lots of people are already looking forward to the zero-emission continuation of the "vision smart" with the smart electric drive, which will soon become a firm part of the cityscape. And now we are bringing all these features to two wheels with the eScooter."

The smart eScooter, as practical as unconventional, is most at home in big cities, where it can be used in a variety of ways. In urban traffic, the electric scooter is an intelligent amendment or alternative to the car - with its superior manoeuvrability, exemplary comfort and pioneering safety features. The latter include an airbag, ABS anti-lock brake system and a Blind Spot Assist.

"With the eScooter, we consistently continue our "vision smart": even more driving fun in the city, even more adaptability to the respective living environment, even more flexibility - not least because it offers the possibility to be integrated in our car2go concept", says Annette Winkler.

The single lane smart eScooter will enable smart to tap new growth potential. Two-wheelers will enable the brand to reach also considerable younger people who do not yet have a car driving licence. In addition, the two-wheel vehicles that have been configured for an "e-drive" from the outset also have functional and environmental advantages they convince with in inner city traffic. All in all, the smart eScooter offers also the ideal prerequisites for integration in individual urban mobility concepts such as car2go.

Annette Winkler: "The eScooter shows what an integrated, open approach we have to the subject of 'urban mobility'. This pragmatic approach, combined with smart's typical fun factor, is what makes smart so special. We perceive mobility as a combination of responsibility and emotion - and our smart eScooter accomodates this request in every respect."

smart eScooter Concept - anything but conventional
The smart eScooter makes a first impression with its independent, unconventional design based on a sophisticated ergonomic concept. It exudes pure joie de vivre, introducing a fresh and surprising element into urban traffic. The design of the electric scooter is characterised by its attractive, sporty proportions: the front looks sorted and compact when viewed from the side, while the rear wheel gives the appearance of being positioned a long way behind the seat area, emphasising the scooter's forward thrust and agility. The dynamic, elegant appearance is underlined by its composition of complete surfaces and accentuated lines - designers talk of "iconic" design.

The cool appearance of the eScooter is emphasised by affectionately crafted details that enhance its high-value yet trendy effect - from delicate cockpit panelling to a flush-fitted rear light. At the same time, the concept offers practical solutions, extreme ease of handling and outstanding safety.

The electric scooter's supporting chassis structure is consciously modelled on the tridion safety cell of the smart fortwo. Its steel and aluminium frame is clad with fully interchangeable plastic bodypanels. This is another clear parallel to the successful two-seater. A further special feature of the smart eScooter are the long, extensive and translucent elements on the edges of the foot protection (front panelling). These illuminated side markers improve visibility from the side, and also serve as striking indicators.

The smart eScooter guarantees distinguished impact in terms of "see and be seen" by means of state-of-the-art LED technology. Both the front headlamp, backlight and brake light are equipped with it.

Visual similarity to its four-wheeled big brother
The smart eScooter's white paintwork with green accents underlines its relationship to the smart fortwo electric drive. Also in terms of suitability for everyday use, the electric scooter clearly bears the genes of the two-seater car. For example, the frame of the smart eScooter does not only house technical components such as the battery and power electronics, but also offers additional storage space, for example for helmets.

Dynamic driving fun - of course, emission-free
In addition to environmental sustainability, the smart eScooter Concept has a focus on driving fun: it is driven by a disc-shaped wheel hub motor in the rear wheel, which offers a powerful 4 kW despite its compact size. The brushless direct current hub drive transmits its power directly to the rear wheel, and is clean and maintenance-free. A further advantage: as the motor does not take up any space in the chassis, more stowage space is available there.

As full torque is available right from the start, speedy moving is possible. At traffic lights, smart eScooter riders can easily outpace most cars. They also benefit from the scooter's modern chassis design: front and rear wheels are each mounted on an elegant single-sided swingarm. A 130/60 R13 tyre is fitted at the front, while its rear counterpart measures 140/65/R13.

The smart eScooter has a top speed of 45 km/h. The traction current is supplied by a state-of-the-art, 48-volt lithium-ion battery pack. Thanks to the battery's capacity of 80 Ah, ranges of up to 100 kilometres are possible. The eScooter can be charged at any standard household power socket, within three to five hours. The charging socket is stored at the front of the scooter underneath a hinged smart emblem, while the charger itself is integrated in the scooter.

The smart philosophy: stress-free and safe driving
Characteristic of smart vehicles is their distinctive functionality in conjunction with model high safety level. These two elements together make for stress-free and safe travel. The new smart eScooter follows consistently this ideal: in doing so, it does not only meet all statutory requirements, but also sets new standards in its segment.

In contrast to conventional scooters, the smart eScooter is equipped with ultra-modern safety features of a kind rarely seen even on modern motorcycles. These include an anti-lock braking system (ABS) specially adapted for a two-wheeler, an airbag integrated in the panelling beneath the handlebars, and Blind Spot Assist, which draws the rid
er's attention to vehicles following close behind him that are not visible in the "blind spot" of the rear-view mirrors - extremely useful when changing lanes, for example. Like in the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, a triangular light is flashing in the rear-view mirror. So, common cause of accidents involving scooters is addressed.

Combined front/rear brake and ABS
To brake the smart eScooter safely, just one touch suffices to retard both the front and rear wheel simultaneously. When the hydraulic disc brake at the front is actuated, an anti-lock braking system kicks in to ensure maximum braking effect even during emergency braking. The rear wheel is braked in parallel to the front wheel, though not mechanically but electrically.

This task is performed by the wheel hub motor in the rear wheel, which normally propels the scooter forwards. When the brakes are applied, the operating principle is reversed: the motor becomes a generator whose resistance provides the required braking effect. The resulting braking energy is converted into electrical energy and stored in the scooter's lithium-ion battery. The anyway high energy efficiency of the smart eScooter Concept is further enhanced by additional solar cells at the front. These solar collectors are used to support the charging of the state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery pack whenever the sun is shining, also when the scooter is moving.

Always new, always intelligent - smart
When it comes to comfort and convenience, the eScooter is also a smart through and through. Its attractive, creative yet pragmatic solutions are fully in line with the smart brand principle "easy to use". The smart eScooter's intelligent and simple operating concept is particularly convincing.

One example is the charging socket, which is integrated externally in the panelling at the front, and therefore extremely easy to access. Like the smart fortwo, the smart eScooter also disposes of an intelligent storage system. Underneath the seat there is a lockable stowage space with enough room for both the driver's and the pillion rider's helmets. The scooter's lithium-ion batteries are placed space-efficient and well protected behind the panelling in the foot area. The resulting mass centring and low centre of gravity promote agility and stable roadholding.

The smart eScooter also offers driving fun for two: that is enabled by a fold-out seat which looks elegant when in use, and which appears to "hover" over the rear wheel. The footrests for the pillion rider automatically move into position when the second seat is folded out. If, instead, the rider requires more storage space, the pillion seat can be replaced with a luggage rack.

Linked via smartphone
The smartphone plays a special role for the eScooter, serving as the scooter's control and communication centre. Before starting the electric scooter, the rider simply places the smartphone in a specially-designed mount in the centre of the handlebars. So, it is fully linked with the smart eScooter Concept. At the same time, immobiliser and anti-theft protection are deactivated, allowing the electric scooter to be started.

The new, further developed smart drive kit app allows the rider to use online services when making stops on the road. During the journey, the smartphone serves as the scooter's needed speedometer. It also displays the range and battery charge level and acts as a navigation system. Should the rider ever forget where he parked his eScooter, the "GPS Tracking" smartphone app can help him identify the position.

The handlebar heating can also be controlled remotely - a comfort feature especially ideal on cooler days.
